Rodarte New York Fashion Week

Love Love Love this collection by Rodarte, the dramatic prints and gothic themed garments are fun, modern and technically constructed to give a dramatic effect and a statement look. 

The use of over layered shapes and collage patterns and material create a bold surface that explores a variation of textile techniques, an interesting idea for my own final collection.

emphasising the gothic theme heavy knitwear and metallic embroidery has been used to create a chain mail effected.

These statement piece trousers consist of simple geometric shapes created through leather cutting a key technique for autumn/Winter 2013.

Taking the gothic theme beyond textiles the construction and key features of this garment reflected gothic architecture through the use of curved seams and darts, this implies a strong, modern shape yet allows the garment to capture the feminine side through the use of soft, floating material.
