Outfit One

Ruff flat Drawing

Making and Development of outfit one ...
Making the Jacket  Suede leather shibori, draped.

Jacket and under layered top. I am really pleased with the jacket itself, the shibori has been really successful. Taking inspiration from my previous techniques used in semester one I have developed shibori further, exploring larger scale geometric prints. To add extra detail I then followed the pattern with a soldering iron, adding a stitched like detail. I particularly like how the direction of the strips follow each other diagonal, empathising a sense of direction to the draping.

Shibori jacket, Grained stretch leather trousers, Devore/cross dying top and detailed leather belt.
I still feel as through this outfit needs developing further possible adding another layer in order to make it more dramatic and less safe/commercial .

To add to the look I shiboried and discharged a pair of womens leather gloves. However through the process of steaming the gloves have seemed to shrunk. A happy mistake as the detailed stitching on the gloves has also shrunk... these would be really cool as a hair accessorise of a broach.

In order to make my outfit more dramatic, I have decided to add another layer to the garment. Devore velvet and discharged, long draped cardigan. This will also help to show of the different textile processes which I have used.

Working out the construction of the garment through modelling it on the stand. The same process used to create the jacket

Finished cardigan. I am slightly worried that this will look to much, but hopefully when photographed will add to the look.

I have also developed the shape of the top further through adding a row of tucks at the front, this way it is not so commercial and adds to the layered/draped effect.

Development of Prints

I have been working on developing my prints based upon the inspirational images taken from a visit to Paris. These of which will be exposed onto a screen and used to create prints/textures through textile processes such as Discharge printing and Devore.
